The Locals @ Lit Program

Locals @ Lit is a carefully considered local author consignment program. It's not open access, but rather, a genuine editorial partnership. 

What we look for:

  • You live or work in the local community (we interpret "local" generously)
  • Your book is published and available in a print edition with an ISBN (kingly note, we do not take self-published titles)
  • A genre that fits with Lit, and our readers

Program Details:

  • Author receives 60% of cover price per sale
  • Lit keeps 40% of cover price for retail management & handling
  • Duration: 3 months, renewable by mutual agreement
  • Copies held will be discussed after intake, and depending on the book
  • Sales are tallied monthly. We'll send you a simple statement and payment within the first two weeks of each following month. Unsold copies are returned to you at the end of the term in the same condition we received them

We read your book
Send us a copy and someone on our team will read your book. This takes time, and we appreciate your patience. Expect to hear from us within 4–6 weeks.

We make a decision
If it's a fit, we'll reach out to finalize the details and get your copies onto our shelves. If it's not, we'll tell you kindly and honestly. We know how much this work means.

Your book finds its readers
We'll display your book in-store and introduce it to customers. After 3 months, we'll chat about whether to renew.
